NYFW trend watch: black and white

With all the shows I attended during New York Fashion Week one thing was certain; that designers were having a black and white moment.  I’m not sure if it was the rebellion against last season’s neon over-saturation, but designers from Jill Stuart to Clover Canyon were using these classic hues as their main color palette.

Message received: black and white is THE trend come next spring, from monochromatic head to toe for a statement, mixing them together for a timeless look, or adding doses of ebony or ivory for a sophisticated twist to any outfit. And better yet, this trend can be found in your closet!  My favorite way to wear head-to-toe black or white is by mixing textures like silk, knits, leather, lace, velvet, tweeds and denim.

Get a head start on the trend and bring out your black and whites for easy outfits!

And out the window goes the old adage of no white after labour day. Bring on the winter white!
