NYFW // W118 Walter Baker Spring 2013
Walter Baker has a way of designing a collection that leaves me wanting to take home every single piece. I first fell in love with Walter at his Spring 2012 show, so I was anxious to see what he had come up with for Spring 2013!
Walter designs clothing that is easy to wear, trendy, and fun, and the vibe at the Spring 2013 presentation was just that, fun. The room was set up like a house party complete with pop music blaring and all my best girlfriends bobbing to the music – in this scenario all my best girlfriends are six foot tall leggy models with the most well crafted separates.
It was overwhelming taking in all the vivid colours like canary yellow, sherbet orange, tangerine and bright blues, and a wild mix of prints like aztec, tropical and tie dye. It read more like a forecast on what every girl will be wearing come next spring: lace pants, drop waists, denim accents and tropical prints are bound to be in everyone’s closet. Also, brightly colored Skull Candy headphones appear to be the must-have accessory!
Walter’s W118 presentation was also the launch on Baker’s new expansion, a collection of handbags and jewelry. Just like his clothes, I was obsessed with every piece! It was great to see where Walter went with his collection this year, and I’m already dreaming about what I’ll see next year.
